Herat, the city of knowledge and culture, has long been known for nurturing figures of literature, culture, and education. In the heart of this city, there are also individuals who have dedicated decades of their lives to serving the public through their work.
55-year-old Javed Faqiri is one of them, having devoted 28 years of his life to serving at the Herat Department of Information and Culture. His daily work begins with pen and paper and continues throughout the day.
Faqiri uses one pen every day, and in the past four years alone, he has used nearly 1,000 pens, turning ink into information, documents, and public service records.
Javed Faqiri, an employee of the Herat Information and Culture Department, said:
“My department is the busiest section in the Information and Culture office. When I take a pen in the morning, its ink is finished by the end of the day. Some days I even use two pens.”
Although he is now older, his passion for work and service remains as strong as ever. He arrives at the office earlier than others and often leaves later than his colleagues.
Faqiri, who works 12 to 13 hours a day, says his job is not limited to the office, as he also handles work related to the “Ettefaq-e Islam” newspaper at home on many days.
He says writing and working with documents is not just a job, but part of his life.
Javed Faqiri said:
“I arrive at the office half an hour before official time and stay two to three hours after working hours end. In total, I work up to 13 hours a day, and sometimes I even take office work home.”
Officials of the Herat Department of Information and Culture describe Javed Faqiri as a model of dedication, honesty, and loyalty. They say he has given special attention to his duties over his long years of service and is seen as an example for other employees.
Abdul Mateen Adil, Head of Culture and Arts at the Herat Information and Culture Department, said:
“A colleague named Javed Faqiri in our department is a remarkable example of work, activity, and service. He is a person who has dedicated three decades of his life to serving the people in this department.”
This comes at a time when even in the era of rapid technological advancement, there are still individuals who fulfill their responsibilities through tireless effort and commitment.
Javed Faqiri is one of those people whose passion for service and work has not diminished despite increasing age.
