At a time when millions of people in the United States have taken to the streets protesting Trump’s policies and demanding change, thousands have also demonstrated in The Hague, Netherlands, accusing U.S. President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of war crimes and calling for their prosecution.
Protesters in The Hague say that bombing a country in order to bring democracy and freedom there is in conflict with international law.
One protest participant said:
“We are fighting against this illegal war that has been started by Trump and Netanyahu. Bombing a country in order to bring democracy and freedom is against international law.”
Meanwhile, according to reports, millions of people within the United States itself have also taken to the streets, chanting slogans against the Trump administration.
According to reports, the majority of protesters oppose the attacks on Iran and want this war to end.
In Washington, people have come out into the streets as a month has passed since the start of U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran.
A 67-year-old American woman, speaking to reporters, questioned whether the attack was necessary when Iran posed no threat to the United States. She added:
“First, this is not right, and second, they do not have the right to do such a thing.”
Some protesters have said that the war by the United States and Israel against Iran is part of Trump’s efforts to divert public attention from the Jeffrey Epstein sexual abuse cases.
At the Washington protest, a 70-year-old man who said he had participated in the Vietnam War stated that Trump thought he would end the Iran war in a few days and present himself as a hero.
He added:
“Trump thought that by ending the Iran war in a few days, he would be a hero. But now President Trump must have realized that Iranians are fighting back. The current situation is similar to the Vietnam War.”
In New York, anti-Trump protesters gathered in central Manhattan.
A woman, explaining the attacks on Iran, said that this war is like wasting American taxpayers’ money.
These mass protests took place across all 50 U.S. states in around 3,000 locations, and organizers have announced further demonstrations in the coming days that they say will be unprecedented in U.S. history.
