The Ministry of Public Health issued a press release, saying as a result of the tireless efforts of the leadership of the General Directorate of Therapeutic Medicine and the National Cancer Control Program, Afghanistan was given the full membership of the International Convention on Cancer Control.
It was stated in the press release that the convention will help the National Cancer Control Program in demand for the right to control cancer, the development and creation of strategies and policies for cancer control in accordance with national and international strategies, the development of preventive strategies at the community level to reduce the cases, on time diagnosis of cases, standardization of cancer diagnosis and treatment, supportive care and cooperation in other related areas.
The press release added that with the efforts of the officials of the National Cancer Control Program, the program was removed from the black list and became a full member of the convention for the year 2023.
The International Convention on Cancer Control, based in Geneva, Switzerland, is the oldest international convention on cancer control.
