As part of efforts to attract investment, the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development has called on Chinese investors to invest in various sectors of Afghanistan.
He made this request during a meeting with the Chinese ambassador in Kabul and assured that the Islamic Emirate is fully cooperating to facilitate Chinese investors.
He stated that efforts to activate the Wakhan Corridor are nearing completion and added that through this corridor, China and Afghanistan will be directly connected.
Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development Abdul Latif Mansoor said:
“Fortunately, the construction of the Wakhan dirt road has been completed and it is now connected with China, and the remaining work is ongoing. Our people are very happy with the Wakhan road. We ask you to support us in implementing development and infrastructure projects because our people have faced many difficulties in recent years.”
Economic analysts say that China and Afghanistan are good markets for each other’s goods, and therefore it is necessary to maintain strong relations.
Economic analyst Abdul Jabbar Saapi said:
“If this corridor is properly developed and roads are built for both trucks and railways, it will have a positive impact across the region and will serve as a secure route. It will also play an important role in Afghanistan’s economy, job creation, and international transit.”
Some other analysts also suggest that China should not only engage in trade but also implement development projects in Afghanistan so that employment opportunities are created domestically.
They say China is an economically powerful country and, if it wishes, it can invest in reconstruction and factory development in Afghanistan.
Economic analyst Muhammad Younis Zadran said:
“The stronger Afghanistan’s economic relations with China become, the greater the benefit for Afghanistan. China is a major trading country, and most importantly, the Wakhan Corridor can connect Afghanistan with China and through China with the rest of the world.”
Overall, there are also calls for the Islamic Emirate to encourage countries to invest in Afghanistan so that employment opportunities can be created for the people. The government has repeatedly promised to provide job opportunities both inside and outside the country for unemployed citizens.
