نړیوال بانک: خراب اقتصادي وضعیت او دوامداره بحرانونو د افغانستان اقتصادي وده کمزورې کړې

World Bank: Poor Economic Situation, Incessant Crises Weakened Afghanistan’s Economic Growth

The World Bank published a report reviewing the economic situation of the world and expressed concerns regarding the economic situation of South Asian countries, including Afghanistan.

According to report, the economic growth of South Asian countries will decrease by 5.9 percent in 2023 and 5.1 percent in 2024.

It is stated in the report that the economy of South Asian countries, including Afghanistan, has been affected, and their economic growth, especially that of Afghanistan, Pakistan and Sri Lanka, has been weakened due to the continuation of the crises.

The report reads: “Poverty has increased in Afghanistan; almost 92 percent of the population does not have enough food due to low income. The economy of some countries in the region has been affected and severe crises have continuously weakened their economic growth, especially in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.”

Earlier, the World Bank has admitted in many reports that the Interim Government of Afghanistan collected the revenues well, paid the salaries of the employees on time, and due to it, the prices of the goods have also decreased.

The Bank said that the economic situation of Afghanistan has been stabilized due to the international assistance and expressed optimism that it will go in a more positive direction in the next two years.

The report reads: “In Afghanistan, compared to July 2022, the price of goods in March 2023 has decreased to 1.9. Because the economic situation in this country has remained stable due to the continuation of humanitarian assistance, it is expected that there will be more positive changes in the next two years.

The World Bank further said that the main reason for Afghanistan’s current economic stability is the continuation of international humanitarian assistance, but economists said that the stability is temporary.

They believed that for the permanent stability of Afghanistan’s economy, investments should be made in the fields of mining and energy production.

Meanwhile, the IE also admitted that there are some economic problems, but assures that the Interim Government has commenced working to implement the big projects and is trying to find solutions to these problems.

The World Bank has expressed concern about Afghanistan’s economic growth at a time when international organizations have reduced their assistance to Afghanistan due to the ban on Afghan women’s employment.
