Thomas West, the US Special Representative for Afghanistan said in a tweet that among points of consensus in the Doha meeting, political dialogue among Afghans considered the central part of solution to all challenges in Afghanistan.
Meanwhile, Rina Amiri, the US Special Envoy for Afghan Women, Girls, and Human Rights, also expressed her gratitude to the UN and Qatar for the gathering of special envoys to facilitate international coherence in support of an inclusive, peaceful & stable Afghanistan.
Amiri said that there was also concurrence on the need for the region, Muslim majority countries & broader international community to work in concert to support Afghanistan & the Afghan people.
According to her, in regard to engaging the Taliban, participants noted that while it was necessary, there should also be efforts & processes to engage other Afghans particularly women, inside & outside the country.
