Experts: Issues with Pakistan Should Be Resolved Through UN Mediation

The recent Pakistani military strikes on Afghanistan have escalated into a serious regional issue. Pakistan has been accused by Afghanistan and other countries of committing crimes and violating international law.

Some analysts say Pakistan is unaware of the negative consequences of its attacks, though these consequences may ultimately backfire on Pakistan itself.

The key question is how long the Pakistani military regime will continue its attacks and how the Islamic Emirate will respond—and what the fundamental solution should be.

Legal analyst Ismail Zadran said:
“The solution is for both sides—the Islamic Emirate and Pakistan—not to blame each other, and to take responsibility for security within their own countries. Pakistan cannot achieve its goals through these brutal attacks. Such actions provoke public anger and invite retaliation. Pakistan should refrain from attacks that cause civilian casualties.”

Initially, the Islamic Emirate attempted multiple rounds of negotiations through intermediary countries to resolve the dispute with Pakistan, but Pakistan’s unreasonable and impractical demands prevented positive outcomes. Analysts note that Islamabad has historically taken a hostile approach toward Kabul, a policy that not only harms Afghanistan but also destabilizes the region.

International relations analyst Najibur Rahman Shomal said:
“I condemn the attacks in Nangarhar and Paktika. Pakistan must understand that such strikes do not solve the underlying issues between the two countries. Both nations should return to the negotiating table, and Afghanistan-Pakistan disputes should be resolved through international organizations. Continuing such attacks benefits no one and may further spread terrorism in the region.”

Some experts propose convening a UN-led meeting to address the issue, with guarantees from Pakistan to prevent further unilateral aggression against Afghanistan.

Military analyst Toryali Zazi said:
“When three Pakistani soldiers were released with respect at the request of Salman, Pakistan still launched attacks on Afghanistan. The only way to stop all these crimes is for the United Nations and major world powers to convene a Security Council session and demand a commitment from Pakistan that it will no longer commit acts of aggression against Afghanistan.”

Condemnation of Pakistan’s attacks continues from countries and international organizations, emphasizing that these strikes violate international law. Countries, including Afghanistan, have consistently stressed that Pakistan should resolve its disputes through dialogue rather than irresponsible actions.
