The leader of the Awami National Party says that if the government and army of Pakistan truly want to, they can completely eliminate terrorism.
In response to the ongoing wave of insecurity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Eml Wali Khan stated that the Pakistani government has accurate and detailed information about every individual involved in instability.
He added that not all armed individuals involved in insecurity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have come from outside, and according to him, the Pakistani state is fully aware of this situation from all angles.
The Awami National Party leader further said: “As an ordinary citizen, I do not know who the Taliban are, who ISIS are, and who the terrorists are; but historically I know that if they want, they can end this issue because they know every single person.”
Eml Wali Khan also stated that all armed groups operating there were trained by Pakistan’s military and intelligence agencies, and today they move freely and confidently across the province.
He said: “I clearly state that armed groups are moving openly in Bajaur, Mohmand, Waziristan, and even in Hayatabad of Peshawar. My question is: how is all this happening?”
The ANP leader further urged the Pakistani government and army to take serious steps to eliminate the militants they themselves trained, adding that negligence in this matter must end.
Security analysts also support Eml Wali Khan’s remarks, saying that for years Pakistan has been trying to train and support militant groups to pursue its strategic interests.
Former diplomat Aziz Ma’araj said: “Not only does the Pakistan army and government know where the militants are, but the real issue is that these groups were created by them and are used to pursue their own objectives. Their defense minister openly stated that they do this for the West.”
Some other analysts also say that Pakistan knows where and how these militants operate under its surveillance, adding that it is now clear to the region and the world how Pakistan has trained and supported such groups.
Military analyst Asadullah Nadeem said: “Pakistan has very strong intelligence networks, and there is no doubt that they know who is against them and where they are.”
Military analyst Akhtar Mohammad Rasikh said: “These statements are absolutely correct. As you know, the Pakistan army and intelligence agencies have been engaged in this for the past half century. By training militants, they destabilize the region and serve their own interests.”
Recently, the security situation in Pakistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been worsening day by day. The most recent incident occurred in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on the 9th of this month, when a vehicle-borne suicide blast and armed attack targeted a police post. According to official figures, 15 police officers were killed and three others injured.
