The governor of Farah province met with local officials from Iran’s Khorasan Razavi province at the Abu Nasr Farahi border crossing.
According to the provincial media office, the meeting focused on strengthening commercial and transport cooperation, resolving issues in goods transportation, and facilitating movement between the two sides.
Farah governor’s spokesperson Abdul Malik Osama said:
“The governor of Farah and officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran considered strengthening transit and trade relations essential for both countries and emphasized continuous coordination to improve trade exchanges and facilitate traders. They also discussed expanding cooperation, easing movement, resolving existing obstacles in the transport of commercial goods, and providing more facilities for commercial and freight vehicles.”
The meeting also emphasized providing further facilities for traders and freight vehicles.
Analysts say that if trade facilitation through the Abu Nasr Farahi border is improved, it will not only boost the economic situation of western provinces but also reduce import and export costs.
Economic analyst Abdul Nasir Rastiya said:
“It is natural that there are some issues at border crossings, such as transportation shortages and customs problems. If customs procedures are simplified and transport facilities are improved, trade will definitely grow. We often face customs problems, transportation shortages, and visa-related issues at our borders.”
Other experts say that expanding economic relations between Afghanistan and Iran is important not only for trade growth but also for regional connectivity and transit cooperation.
Economic analyst Mohammad Esa Mubarez said:
“Any country that builds direct relations with another country contributes to its own development. It is positive that such development work is being carried out between Afghanistan and Iran so that essential goods can be imported for the Afghan people, and we can maintain strong relations with other countries, ensuring smooth imports and exports.”
The Abu Nasr Farahi border is considered one of the most important trade routes between Afghanistan and Iran, playing a key role in the expansion of imports and exports between the two countries.
