Families displaced by recent clashes along the Durand Line in Afghanistan say they are currently facing serious difficulties after fleeing their homes in Khost Province.
According to the displaced residents, the lack of shelter, food, and basic necessities has created severe challenges for their daily lives. They add that women and children have been the most affected by the situation.
A displaced teacher, Umar Gul, said:
“We are currently staying in a madrassa in Tatra. Thirteen families have been accommodated in a market building thanks to the cooperation of the market owner.”
Another displaced resident, Syed Habib Shah, said:
“It has been six days since we left our homes. We cannot find houses or rooms here, and we are facing many difficulties.”
Several displaced families also said that their sudden displacement has worsened their situation, and they urgently need food supplies, clean water, and health services.
They called on relevant authorities and humanitarian organizations to provide immediate assistance to war-affected families and to take practical steps to ensure shelter and basic necessities.
Displaced resident Khayali Khan said:
“We have moved with whatever belongings we could carry and are staying in open fields on hilltops. We have no shelter and not even a tent.”
Another resident, Ali Khan, said:
“Even today, shells hit our homes. We only managed to save our lives; our houses and livestock were left behind.”
Displaced resident Kamal Hussain Wazir said:
“Pakistan has continued its oppression, firing on women and children. This is not the work of men.”
Another displaced person, Masta Khan, said:
“Our homes have been destroyed, shops and markets damaged, and some people have been injured. We also lost our livestock due to Pakistani shelling.”
According to local government officials, around 5,000 families have been displaced due to fighting along the border areas in the districts of Gurbuz District, Zazi Maidan District, Alisher District, and Terezai District in Khost.
Officials say that efforts to provide assistance to the affected families are ongoing.
