The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance (OCHA) recently reported that the number of Afghans who need urgent humanitarian assistance has been increased.
OCHA said that more than 2 billion dollars are needed to provide humanitarian assistance to 20 million people by the end of 2023.
OCHA added: “According to the estimated numbers, currently 28.8 million people in Afghanistan need humanitarian assistance, while the number was 28.3 million at the beginning of the year. Partner organizations need $2.26 billion in donations from June to the end of this year to reach 20 million people.”
Among these people, Hamidullah and Sahib Shah, whose economic situation has recently worsened, said that none of the international organizations have reached them, nor can they financially support their families.
Abdul Baqi is a resident of Logar province. He said that he came to Kabul for labor several months ago, but due to the bad economic situation, he earns 50 or 100 Afghanis per day.
He uttered that he has the ability to work, but only if the IE provides him with a job.
He adds: “Sometimes there is work and sometimes not. I earn 50 or 100 Afghanis per day. I am facing many problems. I ask the IE to provide people with job opportunities.”
It is said that the IE has not yet fulfilled its promise to provide people with job opportunities and shun the continuation of the bad economic situation of Afghans.
However, many times the high-ranking officials of the IE said that they will provide employment to the people by commencing and implementing big projects.
