The Minister of Interior, speaking at a police graduation ceremony in the capital Kabul, said that Afghanistan’s security and insecurity are closely linked to the security and instability of the region and the world.
Sirajuddin Haqqani called on the international community to view the current stability and firmness in Afghanistan as a valuable opportunity and to adopt policies that further strengthen security in the country.
The Interior Minister said: “We have repeatedly stated that Afghanistan’s peace is the peace of the region and the world, and regional insecurity is global insecurity. Our neighbors and the international community should adopt strategies and policies that support the security and stability already present in Afghanistan.”
He emphasized the importance of training and education in the country’s security sector and highlighted good ethics as a key characteristic of security police.
Haqqani also described the police as representatives of the security system and urged them not to let their personal mistakes cast a shadow on the system or become a cause for blame.
He said: “Police should understand that instead of seeking personal recognition, their thoughts and efforts should be dedicated to the values of the system, and their energy and skills should be used to improve the system. If, God forbid, even a small mistake occurs within the system, the individual may leave the scene, but the great system will bear the mark of that mistake, and people will blame us in advance for it.”
Analysts also consider the current security in Afghanistan not just a benefit for Afghanistan, but a significant opportunity for the world, and they call for stronger engagement and relations with the current government.
Political analyst Khalil Ahmad Nadim said: “Despite the improved security situation, the current system has conducted a swift and effective fight against the cultivation, trafficking, and use of narcotics. The level of narcotics cultivation has been reduced to zero, and security has been ensured in Afghanistan.”
The Interior Minister also noted that, with the security achieved and trained police, the Islamic Emirate has brought narcotics cultivation in the country down to zero and has made significant progress in preventing criminal activities.
