Officials of the Department of Information and Culture of the Southern Province of Zabul said that they have been able to register 18 new historical sites in the remote vicinities of the province in the last two years.
The head of the department, Rahmatullah Hemad, added that with the newly registered sites, the number of historical areas in Zabul reached 28.
Hemad uttered that the newly registered area is directly related to the history of the country, and its protection and care will be beneficial for the tourists as well as giving the new generation a mindset about the past.
He added: “In our department, we have the management of historical monuments under the umbrella of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. We have sent professionals to investigate and record historical monuments in different areas of Zabul province. We have so far managed to register 18 new historical sites. There are other historical areas in the Province as well. Therefore, we are trying to register historical areas and collect information.”
Historical sites are recorded in Nawbahar, Shamalzo, Shajoy and Khak Afghan districts of Zabul.
The residents of Zabul call the protection of historical areas essential, and ask for continued attention.

Zabul Balahisar and Haji Mirwais Khan Nika’s Fort in this province are the important historical areas, some parts of which have been damaged due to not paying attention, but the Department of Information and Culture on Zabul said that they have taken serious measures to prevent it.
