After more than 18 months of the IE coming to power, the dialogue and understanding between the IE and the international community has not yet been commenced.
Although the IE has repeatedly stated that they have implemented all the conditions set by the world for recognition, the international community accuses the IE of breaching human rights and the Doha Pact.
Recently, the UN Special Representative for Afghanistan, Roza Otunbayeva, held a meeting with the Political Deputy PM, Malawi Abdul Kabir, to ensure the extension of the UN assistance to the Afghans, and the political understanding and negotiation for resolving the problem between the international community and the IE were emphasized in the meeting.
The General Directorate of the PM’s Office: “During the meeting, the UN Special Representative for Afghanistan, Roza Otunbayeva, requested a solution to the problem of Afghanistan through dialogue and understanding and assured the efforts of the United Nations in this regard.”
On the other hand, speaking to a meeting in the United Arab Emirates the Political Deputy FM, Shir Mohammad Stanikzai admitted that many countries want to recognize the IE, but the US is hindering, and all countries are waiting for the position of the US in this regard.
Meanwhile, some political analysts want the IE to accept the legitimate demands for reaching a political understanding with the international community, which has been set as a condition by the world for the commencing of dialogue with the IE.
Some others suggested that the international community should invite the IE to international meetings and all those gatherings where the main topic is Afghanistan. The IE should be invited in order to find a way of understanding between the world and the Interim Government of Afghanistan.
“The main way is to invite them (IE) to international meetings. They (IE) should be given the opportunity to sit and to hear each other’s voices, which will open the way for interaction and shorten the recognition process.” Zalmai Zarmatai, a political commentator commentated
The Special Representative of the UN insisted on dialogue between the IE and the world at a time when various high-ranking officials including the Deputy Secretary-General of the UN, Amina Mohammad, have requested the IE to do the same in their separate trips to Afghanistan but it seems that no significant progress has been made in this regard so far.
