Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi says the country is undertaking a comprehensive and all-encompassing fight against all factors that threaten regional security, assuring that the Islamic Emirate is fully serious in this regard.
Speaking at the closing session of the Afghanistan–Central Asia consultative talks in Kabul, Muttaqi once again stressed that the Islamic Emirate will never allow any group or opposition force to use Afghan territory against another country.
He added that Afghans are a people who have emerged from 40 years of war and have experienced its bitter consequences, and therefore do not want such suffering to be repeated either in Afghanistan or in neighboring and regional countries.
“We are engaged in a comprehensive, fundamental, and all-out fight against all elements that disrupt security. Anyone who undermines the security of our region, under any name, is unacceptable to us. We assure you that we are very serious in this regard. We will not allow any group from any country to use our soil against our neighbors, the region, or the world. We are a country that has emerged from 40 years of war and have experienced its bitterness, and we do not want these bitter experiences to be repeated in our country, the neighborhood, or the region,” Muttaqi said.
Addressing representatives of Central Asian countries, he noted that they share common goals and security concerns, and that through joint efforts, the region could become one of the most peaceful in the world.
The Afghanistan–Central Asia conference was organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs last Monday in Kabul, with participation from officials and ambassadors of the foreign ministries of five Central Asian countries.
At the conference, the foreign minister proposed the establishment of a multilateral political mechanism aimed at creating a shared vision between Afghanistan and Central Asian countries in political, security, economic, and trade matters.
Referring to this mechanism, Muttaqi said that if Afghanistan and Central Asian countries work together, they can protect themselves from the negative impacts of global changes caused by conflicts and crises.
“If we work together, we will be protected from the negative effects arising from global changes and conflicts. With serious effort, our countries can become among the most secure in the world,” he added.
Muttaqi made these remarks as the Islamic Emirate has, over the past nearly five years, made significant efforts to strengthen engagement and expand political, economic, and trade relations with neighboring and regional countries, particularly those in Central Asia. These efforts have been met with a positive response from Central Asian states.
He noted that during this period, both Afghanistan and Central Asian countries have managed to expand their relations across these areas, with tangible results visible today.
Representatives of Central Asian countries not only welcomed the foreign minister’s proposals but also expressed their readiness to work jointly in this regard.
Analysts have also welcomed the Islamic Emirate’s initiative to expand political, economic, and trade relations with neighboring and regional countries, especially Central Asia, describing it as highly important.
According to them, at a time when the region and the world are facing multiple crises, it is essential for the Islamic Emirate to further strengthen its regional ties, as expanded relations could help address security concerns and reduce existing tensions.
