The U.S. and Israeli airstrikes on Iran have not only caused economic damage to countries in the region but have also resulted in heavy human casualties.
Afghan refugees living in Iran have not been spared from these attacks. In the latest wave of airstrikes, a number of Afghan migrants have been martyred and injured.
A source at the Afghan Embassy in Tehran confirmed to Shamshad News that more than 16 Afghan nationals have been martyred in these attacks. The source added that among the victims were six members of a single family, along with the confirmed deaths of 12 other Afghan citizens.
Analysts, referring to the ongoing U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran, say that by targeting civilians and infrastructure, the attackers have violated all international laws. They stress that the international community must take immediate action either to stop the war or to ensure that international laws are respected.
Political analyst Najib Rahman Shamal stated:
“In the current situation, ongoing wars between countries have seen clear violations of international law. Beyond military targets, civilian and economic infrastructure have also been attacked. These strikes have caused casualties among civilians, including many Iranian citizens and 16 Afghan refugees residing in the country. Regional countries are calling on the involved parties to first stop the Al-harb and then ensure the protection of civilian lives.”
Some other analysts believe that this war has been initiated by countries that claim to defend human rights, yet are now committing crimes against humanity.
They argue that after the U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran, as well as Pakistan’s military strikes on Afghanistan—which have resulted in civilian casualties—there is little reason left to trust global slogans about human rights.
Political analyst Idris Mohammadi Zazai said:
“In Iraq, Lebanon, Libya, and even Afghanistan, indiscriminate bombings take place. Human rights and international principles are being trampled. Right now, the U.S., Israel, and their allies are committing violations and crimes in Iran, yet human rights organizations remain silent. These same organizations are also silent regarding Pakistan’s attacks on Afghanistan.”
Overall, there is a growing belief that global power is driven more by criminal political agendas than by justice. To counter this, it is argued that Islamic countries must prioritize unity among themselves instead of aligning with aggressive powers, in order to protect the Islamic world from such crises.
Political analyst Turyalai Zazai stated:
“The world is driven by a criminal politics of power, not by justice or humanity. Until justice, truth, and humanity prevail globally, such crimes will continue. The only solution is for Islamic countries to unite and protect themselves from these destructive global policies.”
It has been about a month since the start of U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran, which have resulted in the deaths of thousands of Iranian civilians and injuries to many more.
According to a recent United Nations report, in addition to human casualties, the attacks by the U.S. and Israel on Iran have caused approximately $184 billion in financial losses across Central Asia.
