Residents of Nangarhar say that following the attack by the Pakistan military regime on an addiction treatment center in Kabul—where hundreds of patients were killed and injured—the incident is not only a violation of international principles but also a humanitarian disaster.
According to them, such attacks must not only be condemned but actively prevented.
A Nangarhar resident, Zalmai, said:
“Pakistan cannot tolerate our development and prosperity and wants us to remain weak and dependent.”
Another resident, Mohammad Tariq, stated:
“This act by Pakistan goes against all Islamic, neighborly, and international principles. We condemn it and call on the Islamic Emirate to stand for its people.”
Residents urged the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan to move beyond a defensive posture and adopt an offensive approach against Pakistan’s military regime. They stressed that serious and practical measures must be taken to prevent similar attacks in the future.
Hijratullah, another resident, said:
“They attacked a civilian hospital and killed patients. We call on the government to abandon a defensive stance and adopt an offensive one.”
Another resident, Zamari, added:
“There is no difference between Pakistan and Israel. Israel attacked hospitals in Palestine, and Pakistan has done the same in Afghanistan.”
Residents also emphasized their full support for Afghan security and defense forces, stating they are ready to make sacrifices if needed.
Kamran said:
“We stand with the Islamic Emirate in any conflict with Pakistan and are ready for any sacrifice. The Homeland has rights over us, and those rights are fulfilled through sacrifice.”
Khumar, a former soldier, added:
“I served in the previous government and have experience. If needed, I will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the Islamic Emirate to defend the country.”
Beyond Nangarhar, strong reactions were reported across Afghanistan. In Balkh, residents called on the government to declare jihad against Pakistan, while in Herat, people said Pakistan is deliberately targeting civilians and should be taken to international courts.
Meanwhile, at least 400 people were confirmed killed and more than 250 injured in the attack on the addiction treatment hospital in Kabul’s Ninth Police District.
