The Pakistan military regime has, in blatant violation of all Islamic and humanitarian norms, killed dozens of patients receiving treatment at Omid Hospital in Kabul.
Following the indiscriminate bombing, former officials, politicians, athletes, and ordinary citizens expressed strong condemnation, calling the attack a violation of all international laws of war.
Former President Hamid Karzai condemned the attacks and warned Islamabad to change its current policies to prevent regional instability. In his statement, he said:
“The attacks by Pakistan’s military regime on residential areas, civilian facilities, and addiction treatment centers in Kabul are strongly condemned. I warn that continuing such attacks will not achieve their goals and will further harm Pakistan itself.”
Similarly, former Chief Executive of the High Peace Council, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, condemned the strikes, stating that targeting civilians violates all international rules of war. He added:
“We believe these problems can only be resolved through dialogue and diplomatic channels.”
Prominent Pashtun leaders from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also strongly reacted. Manzoor Ahmad Pashtun said that some Pakistani clerics continue to issue fatwas justifying attacks on Afghanistan, and called on them to have shame in light of the innocent victims and patients killed in hospitals.
Tuesday night’s attack on civilians and the addiction treatment hospital in Kabul also drew reactions from Afghan athletes. Notably, national cricket player Rashid Khan called the attacks a major war crime and urged the United Nations to conduct a thorough investigation and hold perpetrators accountable. He said:
“Targeting civilian homes, schools, and healthcare facilities, whether deliberate or accidental, constitutes a major war crime. I call on the UN and human rights organizations to fully investigate this tragedy and ensure accountability.”
Other national cricket players, including Nabi Isa Khil and Navin ul-Haq, along with citizens, also condemned Pakistan’s recent bombing, comparing its actions to those of Israel’s regime.
In response, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan warned that Pakistan’s military regime will face a severe retaliation for these attacks.
