Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi has met with the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peace and Political Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo, and the accompanying delegation.
The ministry’s spokesperson, Zia Ahmad Takal, said that during the meeting both sides held comprehensive discussions on engagement and coordination between the Islamic Emirate and the United Nations, as well as on the Doha process meetings.
Takal added that the foreign minister spoke about Afghanistan’s political situation, security, efforts toward economic stability, the effective management of returning migrants, necessary cooperation with them, and the Islamic Emirate’s positive steps in these areas, along with various other issues.
On the other hand, Rosemary DiCarlo praised the positive developments in Afghanistan, particularly commending the effective management of millions of returning refugees and transparency in humanitarian assistance. She also described the Islamic Emirate’s actions in combating narcotics, treating drug addiction, and other areas as noteworthy.
She further noted her cooperation under the framework of the Doha process through two working groups: counter-narcotics and private sector support.
