The overall situation in Afghanistan was touched at the Second Meeting of Head of State of Central Asia and the President of the European Council.

In a joint press release after the meeting the participants expressed their concerns over the current situation in Afghanistan and called it deteriorating.

In the press release, the humanitarian assistance of the international community to Afghanistan was called essential and its continuation was stressed to the country.

The press release reads: “The participants of the meeting expressed their concern about the deteriorating situation in Afghanistan and stressed their commitment to build a stable, peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan. In this regard, they acclaimed the efforts of the international community in assisting the people of Afghanistan, in accordance with international laws and generally recognized norms and principles, and called on the international community to cooperate with the people of Afghanistan and speed up humanitarian assistance.”

On the top of these concerns, the participants have once again called for the establishment of an inclusive government in Afghanistan and respect for the rights of all Afghans, especially women and girls.

The press release reads: “The importance of building a coalition government and respecting the human rights and fundamental freedoms of all Afghan citizens, especially women and girls were emphasized in the meeting.”

The same and repeated requests have been made in many international meetings, establishment of a wide-broad government, changing the decisions regarding Afghan women’s employment and education are the issues that political experts are asking for seriousness since the beginning of the IE’s rule in Afghanistan.

However, the IE has repeatedly stated that the current Interim Government of Afghanistan is inclusive, committed to providing their rights to all citizens, and the international community should not interfere in Afghanistan’s internal affairs.

Moreover, the IE requested that humanitarian assistance should not be politicized and it should be continued considering the needs of Afghans.
