Afghanistan Places Among the Top Countries Faced Hunger Worldwide

The United Nations World Food Program and the Food and Agriculture Organization have published a joint report on hunger and food security in 22 poor countries of the world, in which the nutrition situation of the people of these countries in the next six months has been called improper and hazardous.

In the report, 18 regions of the world, in which 22 countries are located, are called dangerous regions in terms of hunger and food insecurity.

Afghanistan is still among the five countries, which are leading the list in terms of hunger and food insecurity.

The report reads: “In Afghanistan, it is estimated that about 15.3 million people will encounter food insecurity. The survey covers May – October 2023. Due to the weakness of Afghanistan’s economic situation, these numbers may remain the same in the coming months, or the food security of Afghans may deteriorate.”

Along with Afghanistan, Somalia, Nigeria, South Sudan and Yemen are countries that have remained in their places as in the past and their people are still suffering from severe hunger and food insecurity.

The four newly added countries to the top of the list are Haiti, Burkina Faso, Mali and Sudan, in Sudan the current situation caused by the ongoing war.

The report reads: “It is estimated that the countries at the top of the list will face hunger and a major disaster in terms of food, because food insecurity existed in these countries and many other reasons escalated the situation. These countries need urgent attention.”

From Asia, Pakistan and Syria and from Africa, Central African countries, Ethiopia, Kenya and Congo are the countries that are on the second level of the list of countries facing hunger.

The international organizations are making such a shocking analysis about the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan at a time when the IE said that the current human situation was left to them as a legacy and the main reasons for that are the freezing of Afghanistan fund and the sanctions imposed on the country.
