Mawlawi Muhammad Nasim Naseer, Deputy Head of Education Department of the Southern Province of Zabul, said that the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has donated stationery for 50,000 students.
Naseer uttered, the provided stationary will be distributed to the first-sixth grade students in all districts, including the center, Kalat.
Naseer added that the donation of UNICEF will relatively meet the needs of the students in terms of stationery, but they need more stationery.
He added: “UNICEF cooperated with Zabul Education Department on stationery for about 50,000 students. The donation is for 11 districts including the center. In the first plan it will reach districts and in the second plan it will reach schools. The assistance enables us to provide stationery to students from the first to the sixth grade, and they (students) will get rid of the stationery problems.”
On the other hand, the students said they are happy that UNICEF has helped them with stationery, but they are encountering serious problems due to the lack of books.
They ask the local officials to pay serious attention to the problem of the scarcity of books.
“We are very happy that the stationery was given to us by the Department of Education. However, we are also facing shortage of books due to which we cannot make preparation for the exam, that’s why many students fail in the exam. Our hope is that the Education Department provides us with books.” Said Mohammadullah, a student
Another student, Rahmatullah, uttered: “We are very happy with the Department of Education, which gave us stationery. We are also facing a shortage of books, so we want the Department of Education to provide us with books so that we can learn properly.”
Previously, school students in Zabul complained that they are facing a shortage of books and the measure is an obstacle to the proper implementation of their lesson plan.
