Experts Call Afghanistan a Victim not a Center of Terrorism

Speaking at the meeting of defense ministers of the Shanghai Organization, which was held in India, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu expressed concern about the booming of the activities of armed groups in the region.

This senior Russian military official said that armed groups based in Afghanistan are seeking to increase their influence in Central Asia, and groups such as Al-Qaeda, ISIS, the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan and the Islamic Movement of East Turkestan may enter Central Asian countries.

Meanwhile, India’s defense minister, referring to Pakistan, said that those countries and addresses that support and train terrorism should be put under pressure.

Some experts of political affairs believed that Afghanistan neither was a center of terrorism before nor it is now, but the nests, training centers and equipping addresses of terrorism are clear and practical actions should be taken against them.

They added that now Russia wants to achieve its goals in Afghanistan using the name of terrorism.

“Moscow’s concern that the centers of terrorism are in Afghanistan is baseless. Some countries use the name of terrorism as a tactic to achieve their goals in Afghanistan. If they really feel the threat of terrorism, so their responsibility is to fight it. The world knows the addresses and the training and equipping centers of terrorism so they should put pressure on them.” Sarwar Niazai a political commentator commentated

Experts uttered that if Russia or neighboring countries have authentic documents in this regard, then they should share it with the Afghan government and help the IE to combat against it, so that the worries end.

“These concerns of the neighboring countries are baseless. In case they have problems, they should share it with the IE authentically and cooperate with the IE to deal with terrorism so their struggle and concerns will be resolved.” Political expert Fahim Jannat said

On the other hand, some political analysts deemed that Russian defense minister’s recent remarks is a signal to the US and other western rivals to show them that Russia is facing a threat of terrorism and that is the reason why it has deployed its troops in the countries of Central Asia.

“The recent remarks made by the Russian Defense Minister in India are mostly referring to America and Western countries. Russia is already telling them that there is a danger of terrorism and the country wants to send their armies to central Asia.” Political affairs expert Aziz Ma’araj uttered

Beside all the concerns, the IE has repeatedly assured its neighbors, the region and the world that it will not allow anyone to use Afghanistan’s territory against other countries.
