West: Afghans Oppose Conflict in Their Country

Thomas West, the US Special Representative for Afghanistan, who embarked on a seven-day trip to the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Turkey, last week, participated in the Afghanistan Future Thought Forum in Doha on April 15, 2023.

West said that Afghans do not want more war in their country and bolster peaceful means as the solution of the existing issues.

He added: “Afghans are against clashes in their country and support the solution to their country’s problems through negotiations.”

Meanwhile, some political experts suggested that if the US really wants to establish peace in Afghanistan, then it should hand over all the Afghan war criminals, who are currently leading elite lives in foreign countries, to the international Criminal Court.

“Thomas West! If you are really a defender of justice, human rights and peace, please first hand over the war and humanitarian criminals of Afghanistan, who are now living in foreign countries, to the international Criminal Court, then talk about peace and democracy in Afghanistan. The Afghan people no longer believe in such claims, meetings and conferences, because this is just a political trade, which is done on the blood of our people.” Political commentator Turiyalai Zazai commentated

On the other hand, the US SRA had a telephone conversation with the former Afghan President Hamid Karzai in Kabul and discussed the acceleration of humanitarian assistance, the removal of obstacles to the activities of aid organizations, and stressed the elimination of bans on women’s employment in these organizations.

It was also discussed that the doors of schools and universities should be reopened for Afghan girls and national dialogue should be commended for the establishment of permanent peace in Afghanistan.

“One thing that the world has understood and Afghans also know is that they never want war in Afghanistan anymore and they want all issues to be solved peacefully.” Said Shahzada Masoud, a political analyst

The opposition groups of the IE, which now have political structures in foreign countries, also insist on a peaceful solution and added that an election based government, should be established in Afghanistan, but the IE says that the representatives of every tribe and province exist in the current political system of Afghanistan and there is no need for elections.
